Don't Let Them Clear Cut Our Northern Heritage!

Let your letters express your concern

Tell them you believe that our boreal forests are worth more than dollars and cents for foreign multinational pulp companies. Tell them that the boreal forests are an integral part of our Canadian heritage, that they are the homes of many animals including the endangered woodland caribou and peregrine falcon. Tell them that the culture and way of life of many northern people will be forever alerted. Tell them you care.

The Alberta branch of the WCWC is the fastest growing branch in Canada.

With the help of Dr. Butler, we are establishing a Boreal Forest Research Station to help unravel the mysteries of Canada's unknown forest. This project started in February 1993 and we still need assistance.

WCWC staff, in conjuction with the filmmaker Rick Gustavson, have almost completed a film on alternative forestry in Alberta. A NEW LEAF FOR THE BOREAL FOREST will be previewed at the Global Visions Film Festival, March 13, 1993 in Edmonton.

More than anything else, we are educating the public about the issues in order to halt the destruction of our boreal forests.

Western Canada Wilderness Committee - Alberta acknowledges Dr. Jim Butler with the 1993 Defender of the Wilderness Award.
