Fisher Bay

Hon. Gary Doer, Premier of Manitoba,

The Fisher Bay park reserve, on the west side of Lake Winnipeg, is a treasure house of boreal forest that includes lush mainland, spectacular islands, sandy beach shorelines, shoals and reefs, and the water of the Bay. This is Fisher River Cree Nation traditional territory and home to moose, black bear, pelicans, eagles, and ducks. Furthermore, the area's little-used beaches provide suitable grounds for the Piping Plover, a highly endangered shorebird, to lay its eggs.

Opinion

In My Opinion I support the Fisher River Cree Nation's request for a final designation that includes permanent protection of the lands and waters from all industrial developments. Mr. Premier, please register my opinion and let me know where the Manitoba government stands on this issue.
