Gordon Campbell, Premier of British Columbia

Dear Premier Campbell:

I wish to register my opinion regarding the sport hunting of grizzly bears in British Columbia. I understand that although grizzly bears in British Columbia are listed as a 'species ot special concern' under Canada's endangered specias legislation, the Species at Risk Act, the provincial government continues to allow trophy hunting of this "at risk" species. I am also aware that BC's grizzlies are not only threatened by hunting but also by the provincial government's refusal to protect critical grizzly habitat.

Opinion

In My Opinion Please stop the grizzly bear hunt in British Columbia. Grizzly bears are iconic to BC and are symbolic of the unfragmented wilderness that has made BC world famous. The provincial trophy hunting of grizzly bears is poorly regulated and indefensible from both an ecological and economical standpoint. Please listen to the majority of British Columbians and Canadians who are opposed to the sport killing of grizzlies and re-institute the moratorium on the grizzly bear hunt in British Columbia immediately.

Please continue with the sport hunting of grizzly bears in British Columbia. I think that people should be free to pay money to shoot grizzlies for sport. Sport hunting is a great tradition in BC and is an important part of our tourism industry. There are plenty of grizzlies in BC and hunters can regulate themselves.
