Trail Building: Walbran Valley

Wilderness Committee event
Friday, June 2, 2017 - 9:00am - Sunday, June 4, 2017 - 5:00pm

Location: The Walbran Valley is located about two-and-a-half hours west of Victoria in unceded Pacheedaht Territory.

It is one of the finest old-growth rainforests on southern Vancouver Island.

About: A large tract of unprotected ancient forest in the central Walbran is imminently threatened by logging company Teal Jones. The Wilderness Committee has been campaigning to protect this area for years.

Along with local allies from the Friends of Carmanah-Walbran, we will be continuing work on existing trails and building new trails into Teal Jones’ proposed cutblocks. Our goal is to create recreational infrastructure to bring more people into the Walbran, connect citizens to the valley’s beauty and significance and amplify the calls for protection.
