This is a 10 minute video news report from the Wilderness Committee about a protest rally that took place on June 16 2010, in downtown Vancouver in front of the Taseko Mining Ltd Annual General Meeting. The rally, organized by Harjap Grewal of the Council of Canadians drew about 70 people and featured several Chiefs of the Chilcotin Nation - including Chief Marilyn Baptise. Representatives of the Wilderness Committee were also there. The rally was to show support for the Chilcotin Chiefs' opposition to Taseko Mine Ltd's plans to build a copper and gold mine in the heartlands of the Chilcotin Nation. The mine, named The Prosperity Mine by Taseko Mining, would require the draining of Fish Lake in order to accomodate a large mine waste dump.

Fish Lake currently holds an estimated 85,000 rainbow trout and has been a source of food for the Chilcotin people for generations.

The rally was endorsed by the Council of Canadians, Friends of Clayoquot Sound, friends of the Nemaiah Valley, Indigenous Action Movement, MiningWatch Canada, and Respecting Aboriginal Values & Environmental Needs (RAVEN).
