The LNG industry suffered a setback with a losing vote amongst Lax Kw’alaams First Nation members over a billion-dollar package offered to support Petronas’ Pacific NorthWest LNG plant near Prince Rupert.

The members' main concerns were about the proposed project's possible impacts on Flora Bank, an underwater area immediately adjacent Lelu Island where an abundance of eel grass provides vital habitat to maturing salmon in the Skeena watershed. The Wilderness Committee's Joe Foy is interviewed for this news report.
