Write Wild: Clean up BC's dirty mining industry

It’s time for BC’s provincial government to send a strong signal to the mining industry that they can’t get away with practices that endanger the health of our communities, watersheds and salmon.

Please use the letter-writing tool below to send a message to BC’s Premier and Minister of Energy and Mines, demanding better practices and stronger regulations to protect public health and our environment from industrial pollution.

A copy of your letter will also be sent to the BC Leader of the Opposition and Opposition Critic for Energy and Mines.

WHEN SUBMITTING YOUR PERSONALIZED LETTER, PLEASE KEEP IT RESPECTFUL AND COMPLETE THE FIELDS TO INCLUDE YOUR FULL NAME AND CITY OF RESIDENCE

Let the provincial government know how strongly you want:

  • A ban on dangerous mine waste tailings storage facilities filled with water, and requirements for safer storage methods
  • Legislated ‘no-go zones’ for mining in some areas to protect critical ecosystems, waters and livelihoods
  • A stop to industry self-regulation in favour of mandatory independent oversight and monitoring
  • A levy on all operating mines to ensure zero public liability and a multi-billion dollar mine clean-up fund
  • Required consent from local communities and First Nations before mine projects can proceed
