Wilderness Committee is eager to start work with the new government and all elected officials to ensure wild and natural areas are preserved for all Manitobans, ensuring a healthy province

WINNIPEG - With the Manitoba election completed and new Members of the Legislative Assembly chosen, the Wilderness Committee is ready to continue our environmental work in Manitoba with new partners. Manitoba is home to essential habitat for endangered animals, globally important wetlands and freshwater lakes, and intact forest ecosystems unrivaled on earth.

“Around the world, tremendous pressure is being placed on elected officials to halt the decline of wild spaces and wild species,” said Eric Reder, Campaign Director for the Wilderness Committee in Manitoba. “We look forward to immediately helping the new government and all elected officials ensure Manitoba is a world leader in the protection of our environment.”

The Wilderness Committee is looking forward to an introductory meeting with the new Conservation Minister, when she or he is chosen in the coming days.

“As someone who grew up exploring the Canadian wilderness, I’m thrilled by the chance to work with the new government to ensure the protection of our vast natural heritage,” said Kalyn Murdock, who was recently hired as full-time Assistant Campaigner in the newly expanded Wilderness Committee Winnipeg office.

The Wilderness Committee would also like to thank all the candidates who committed their time and energy to public service for Manitobans.
