Wilderness Committee Protests Manning Park Logging Road Plans

Thursday, June 20, 2002

This is a 7 minute, 2002 video about a Wilderness Committee protest camp set up at the west gate of Manning Provincial Park in southwest BC. The Wilderness Committee was there to protest plans by logging giant International Forest Products (Interfor) to construct a logging road through a narrow portion of the park to access spotted owl habitat forest - so they could clearcut log it. After 21 days of protest, the logging company announced that they were abandoning their plans to build the road and to log the habitat.
