Energenic City - Fort St John

A site C opposition tour is making the rounds across southern B.C. over the next month, but will not be venturing to the Peace River region, where the proposed dam would be built, until September.

There is already a high awareness of the issues surrounding Site C in the Peace, says Tria Donaldson, a Pacific Coast campaigner with the Wilderness Committee.

Donaldson says the group hopes to make residents in the south aware of the effects the dam would have in the Peace. She says they hope to draw links between Site C and some of the run-of-the-river projects in the Kootenays to make them more aware of the impacts.

The tour is being put on by the Wilderness Committee, along with the Peace Valley Environmental Association and Treaty 8 First Nations in various cities, including Golden, Victoria, Kamloops, Kelowna and Nelson.

The groups then plan to make presentations in the northwest and northeast parts of the province in the fall.
