Polley mine tailings spill and how Imperial Metals,' the Vancouver based mining company responsible for the spill, has yet to pay a single dime in fines. The Mt. Polley spill is one of Canada's worst environmental disasters. The Aug. 4, 2014, collapse sent 24 million cubic metres of mine waste into Quesnel Lake, Hazeltine Creek and other area waterways.
