Richmond Review

A boat making an epic journey to celebrate the Salish Sea will stop in Steveston on July 7.

Organized by the Wilderness Committee, Tanker Free BC and Salish Sea Keepers, the Salish Sea Tour 2015 involves a solar-powered catamaran which is celebrating the Salish Sea and communities along its shores.

The boat will dock in six communities to speak with people about the threats facing this body of water, to share stories and connect with people interested in taking on the challenge of climate change.

In 2010, government and First Nations leaders named a large area of coastal waters off the south coast of B.C. the Salish Sea.

On Tuesday, July 7 from 6 p.m. to sunset, people in Steveston are invited to view the boat at Imperial Landing, visit an information booth and enjoy live music by local artist Luke Wallace.
