So much is at stake. Right now.

Make a wild gift today and ensure a stronger voice and action that protects wild species and spaces well into the future. Whether you want to donate an amount right now, become a monthly donor, divest for the wild with a gift of securities, leave a legacy in your will or estate plans as your final act of resistance, transfer a donor-advised fund or set up a named fund, we'll work to meet your wishes.

Make a donation right now, or review other giving options below and contact us at 1-800-661-9453, ask for our Annual Giving Manager Dena Ellery, or email dena@wildernesscommittee.org

Gifts of Securities

Whether it’s fossil fuel or other stocks, securities, insurance policies, mutual funds, bonds or other investments that have increased or “appreciated” in value, tax benefits of a gift of assets are a win for you and for nature. And with additional CRA taxes on appreciated securities coming in 2024, now is the best time to consider divesting. Visit our page on CanadaHelps to give your gift now.

Denise prefers to give assets because it can eliminate tax (on assets that increased in value) and it doesn’t impact cash on hand or her budget. The money she gives comes from the wealth she’s accumulated in stocks, but this strategy can also be used with insurance, bonds, mutual funds or retirement funds, depending on your own personal mix of assets. Denise reduces her tax burden and passes along the benefits to wilderness and wildlife instead — and so can you!

Gifts by Will or Estate

If you find it only natural to defend the wild, the culmination of a lifetime of activism could be your final act of resistance. Become a Wilderness Guardian. Wilderness Guardians are passionate about protecting wilderness and wildlife and want to ensure that passion and protection live on for generations.

Opportunities to create big change are totally within your power. As a people powered organization we’re nearly 100 per cent funded by individuals like you — so a gift in your will can make a big difference for the wild. Bees, bears, caribou, turtles and other endangered species are relying on us to ensure there’s a place for them.

Include the Wilderness Committee as a charitable beneficiary in your will or estate. Plan your gift with us today.

Donor Advised Funds

If you hold funds at a foundation or other charitable investment organization, consider directing them to work for the wild. Here’s the information you need when working with your financial advisors:

  • Our legal name: Western Canada Wilderness Committee
  • Canadian Charitable Registration: #11929-3009-RR0001
  • Address: 46 E 6th Ave, Vancouver BC V5T 1J4

The Wilderness Committee is grateful to be a named beneficiary of funds held by supporters in trust at the Victoria Foundation, Vancouver Foundation, Calgary Foundation, Vancity and others.

Named Funds

Honour a loved one or create a fund in your name for a legacy that reflects your passions and priorities.

Consider creating a legacy like the Gwen Barlee or Solange Chabannes Memorial Funds with the gift of a bequest, pledge or gift of assets the Wilderness Committee manages. Named funds do require a minimum investment; please let us know your intentions on the form below so that we can carry out your wishes.
