You can help create a new National Park

Thursday, May 20, 2010

Right now you have the rare ability to help create a national park in the South Okanagan.

In the southernmost portion of BC exists a magical place called the South Okanagan-Similkameen. Imagine a hot and arid landscape with badgers, burrowing owls, bighorn sheep, rolling grasslands and sweetly scented pine trees.  Now imagine it disappearing forever. Rapid development is encroaching on this fragile and endangered place every day. But you can help protect it so nature can flourish and endangered animals are safe.

At this moment, the federal government is considering a national park in the South Okanagan-Similkameen, one of the most endangered areas in all of Canada. This national park would be a gift for everyone: from endangered animals like western bluebirds to people who love this unique landscape and want to see it protected.

Here’s where you come in. Join your neighbours and the thousands of people in your community who support the creation of a South Okanagan-Similkameen National Park. This park will be your personal legacy to future generations. Take a stand today.

Please take a minute to write a letter to Jim Prentice, Canada’s Minister of the Environment and local area MPs, TODAY because a decision is expected very soon!
Thanks for Taking Action!
