Coming Up: Coal Hard Truth Forum - Tues. Oct. 9

Thursday, September 13, 2012

Did you know that BC is home to North America's largest coal port?

And that there are plans for 12 new coal mines in BC alone?

Coal is the dirtiest fossil fuel on the planet, with major impacts on the climate and on human health. Despite its reputation as a green leader, BC is a growing player in the coal industry.

On October 9th 2012, the Wilderness Committee will be hosting a special town hall meeting with Eric de Place, a senior researcher with Sightline Institute and one of the Pacific Northwest's foremost experts on the coal industry. Join me for an engaging discussion about the impacts of coal mining in BC, and where the industry is headed with new proposals for mines and export terminals.

Here are the details:

Date: Tuesday, October 9th

Time: 7 p.m.

Location: University of Victoria, Social Science and Math Building A - Rm. 104

Hope to see you there!
