Be a part of protecting nature
Walk through a 400-year-old forest. Paddle a wild river. Spot a Blanding’s turtle in its natural habitat. With our renowned field program, you can do it all — all while learning about an ecosystem’s intricacies from the people who know it best. One year, you’re listening to First Nations elders on the history and importance of the lands. Next, you’re restoring the very ancient trails they spoke about. Along the way, you’ll find friends, gain knowledge and bring home a deeper connection to nature.
Trail Build-And-Camp Trips
Each year, we take volunteer crews on overnight trips to build and maintain trail infrastructure within threatened ecosystems, always alongside members of local First Nations. From Catchacoma, Ontario, to Clayoquot Sound, B.C.. For many, it’s an unforgettable weekend connecting with these incredible areas, and it strengthens the foundations of trust with First Nations and community groups.

Guided Nature Hikes
Come explore the places we’re fighting to protect. From Douglas fir groves in southwest B.C. to paddles down the Bird River in Manitoba, to protected areas in Greenbelt, we’ll bring you right into these wondrous landscapes to experience for yourself. We work to make these trips as accessible as possible, so more people can take part and connect with the land.

Work Parties For Science
Sometimes protecting nature means digging in (literally!). Our work parties have fixed up trails in protected areas to make them safer and easier to access. Other parties had volunteers teaming up with biologists on wildlife, big-tree surveys, and other conservation work — all in the name of protecting these special species and spaces.

Beyond the Trails: Connections in Ancient Forests
Join us behind the scenes of our trailbuilding efforts to accelerate forest protection. Meet our partners, the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation and the Ahousaht, and the community groups and volunteers we bring out into ancient old-growth forests in Clayoquot Sound, B.C.
