Concerned about old-growth forests and endangered species in BC? How about the climate crisis, environmental justice and weak environmental laws in Canada? Engage your passion through grassroots education on our campaign issues as well as our fundraising drive. This is an excellent opportunity to build your communication skills and become confident in community engagement.
The Wilderness Committee is currently accepting applications for our door and phone canvasser positions. Canvassers speak to our donors to update them on our campaign work and ask them for a donation. A primary focus is asking donors to join our monthly giving program.
Hours of work:
Regular hours are from 3:00-9:00 p.m. Part-time work is available, shift lengths are always 6 hours but you can work a minimum commitment of three days per week. Hourly pay is between $15.65 and $46 per hour, based on a band system. Average pay is $20-$25/hour.
Qualifications:
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Concern for wilderness, wildlife and environmental issues
- Outgoing, positive, dedicated
- Well organized with an eye for detail
- Willing to participate in ongoing education and skill-building
- Personal phone for calling during work hours (long-distance plan is an asset)
- Home computer with internet access along with a microphone and webcam
- Able to find humour in the face of adversity
- Ability to speak a second common language is a bonus (e.g. Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi, Hindi, French, Tagalog, etc.)
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Full training is provided.
