Hike to protect Goldstream Provincial Park

Goldstream Park is at risk from a senseless highway expansion. Lace up your boots and hit the trail with us to learn from Tsartlip Elder Carl Olsen who has been fighting the highway expansion for over two years.
Join us and Elder Carl Olsen on May 21, from 7 to 8 p.m., for a guided hike along the highly biodiverse Goldstream river. This isn’t just a walk in the woods, it’s a chance to connect with the land we’re fighting to protect and learn firsthand about the challenges facing this vital ecosystem.
The towering trees, salmon-bearing river and intertwined Douglas Treaty Rights the park supports are already under increasing pressure from climate change. The threat of the Malahat highway widening — which won’t even add more lanes — is too much for the ecosystem to bear.
Carl will share why stopping this highway expansion is crucial, and we’ll talk about how you can be part of the growing movement to speak up for this important place.
When: May 21, 7 to 8 p.m.
Where: Meet at the Goldstream Day Use Parking Lot
What to bring: Weather-appropriate clothing, water, snacks, sturdy footwear — and your passion for biodiversity
This event is free and open to all. This is your chance to deepen your connection to the land and speak up for biodiversity and Douglas Treaty commitments
