Nuchatlaht Land Back! Webinar

Poster for the live webinar showing Nuchatlaht people and forest.

Join us on Thursday, March 3 at 5:30 pm PT/ 8:30 pm ET online to hear from the Nuchatlaht people about their groundbreaking title case, their strong and sustainable vision for their lands and waters and how you can help them win.

Speakers will include Nuchatlaht’s Ha’with (Chief) Jordan Michael, Nuchatlaht House Speaker Archie Little and the nations’ lawyer, Jack Woodward.

The Nuchatlaht Nation are fighting in the supreme court to get their land back through a groundbreaking title case starting on March 21! Their hahoulthee (territory) includes a large part of Nootka Island off the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island which has been impacted by industrial logging and fishing for almost a century at the hands of the BC government and giant corporations.

Despite passing legislation around the rights of Indigenous peoples and promising to do better, the BC government has continued to throw up obstacles and fight against the Nuchatlaht.

Public support is key to winning this precedent-setting case. Come see what you can do to help this tiny nation in their fight for sovereignty.

Any questions? Please contact: emily@wildernesscommittee.org

We would like to acknowledge with respect that the organizers will be hosting this virtual conversation from the traditional unceded territory of the Lekwungen speaking peoples of the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations.

Help Nuchatlaht witness historic Land Back trial!

Community members from this small but mighty nation want to be in Vancouver to witness the opening of this historic court case. Most Nuchatlaht members live on Vancouver Island, and they need our support to get to the city! All funds raised here will help cover transportation costs and accommodations for Nuchatlaht members.
