Welcoming the Salmon Home
Come and celebrate the annual journey of wild SĆÁÁNEW̱ salmon!
Join Elder ZȺWIZUT Carl Olsen, the Wilderness Committee and the Goldstream Protectors to celebrate the wild SĆÁÁNEW̱ salmon's annual journey.
This event includes:
- A guided hike with Elder ZȺWIZUT Carl Olsen
- Hands-on art activities like silkscreening and button-making (by donation)
- Warm beverages and snacks (by donation)
- Opportunities to learn more about the salmon, the river and the importance of caring for this special place
About Goldstream — our collective action successfully paused the senseless highway expansion and any subsequent ecological damage to salmon habitat in SELE₭TEȽ (Goldstream River). However, the number of returning ŦÁWEN coho, QOLEW̱ chum and SȾOḰI chinook are far fewer than they should be. Connect to the land and water and find out how you can make a difference.
What to bring:
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Water and snacks
- Sturdy footwear
- Cash for donations
- Optional — if you are interested in silkscreening, you can bring a blank shirt (we will also have some available)
