Rally to demand protection of old-growth outside Ministry of Forests Office

VICTORIA – Citizens concerned about potential clearcut logging of old-growth rainforest in the Walbran Valley will rally outside the BC Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations office tomorrow. The peaceful demonstration will feature speakers from the Wilderness Committee and the grassroots group Friends of Carmanah/Walbran, who are calling on the Premier and the Minister of Forests to deny pending permits for old-growth logging in the area. The Walbran Valley is on southwestern Vancouver Island and is one of the most significant tracts of intact ancient forest in BC.
