Conservation and Policy Campaigner
A photo of Lucero smiling at the camera. End of image description.

Lucero (she/her) currently resides in Maple Ridge on unceded q̓ic̓əy̓ and Kwantlen territories.

Lucero is a young Mexican immigrant of ñha-ñhú ancestry who currently resides as an uninvited guest on the continuously occupied territories of the q̓ic̓əy̓ and Kwantlen First Nations. In her role at the Wilderness Committee, she focuses on at-risk species in BC and across Canada, guided by environmental justice to enact much-needed change and hold governments accountable. She has been involved in the social and environmental justice movements since she was sixteen and is passionate about the power of policy change driven by grassroots movements and communities. Lucero brings years of experience working in at-risk species protection and legislation, mostly in marine conservation spaces. In the last few years, she has focused on reconnecting with her indigenous ancestry, trying to learn her ancestral language and healing generational traumas. In her free time, you can find Lucero going for a hike with her two dogs, Milo and Yue, bingeing K-dramas, embroidering or baking.
