Sarafina Henderson

Forest Campaigner

Sarafina (she/her) currently resides on Vancouver Island on unceded lək̓ʷəŋən Territory.
 

In the Forest Campaigner role, Sarafina works to protect some of the last remaining old-growth forests and other at-risk ecosystems. She believes strongly in Indigenous-led stewardship and is keen to help leverage scientific and campaigning tools to support positive ecological, social and cultural change for communities. With a background in ecological restoration, research and outreach, Sarafina is passionate about working collaboratively in projects that inform sustainable practices. Before joining the Wilderness Committee team, Sarafina supported sea garden stewardship on W̱SÁNEĆ territory, Garry oak meadow and wetland conservation on lək̓ʷəŋən territory, and environmental education across Vancouver Island. In her free time, Sarafina likes to bike, swim and support community science through biomonitoring!
