This is a 1989 Wilderness Committee education report about the struggle of Malaysia's Penan people to protect their forested traditional territory from logging. The Malaysian government has continued to refuse to recognize the Penan people's rights to protect their forested homeland, despite strong international pressure. Never-the-less the Penan continue to try and protect their dwindling forest. Their lastest initiative is the Penan Peace Park, which has been designated by the Penan people. Sadly, the government of Malaysia does not recognize this tribal park and logging pressure continues.
