1989 08 14 Carmanah Artists Project

Monday, August 14, 1989

This is a 26 minute long video about a group of artists who in 1989 traveled with the Wilderness Committee into the Carmanah Valley, located on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island. The artists painted, drew and sculpted the ancient forests and nearby clearcuts that they encountered, then donated their art to raise funds for the Wilderness Committee's work to save the Carmanah. The valley was eventually protected and is now part of the Carmanah Walbran Pacific Provincial Park.
