West Moberly First Nation Chief Roland Willson to join allies in Vancouver

VANCOUVER – Chief Roland Willson of the West Moberly First Nations will be joined by Grand Chief Stewart Phillip of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs at an event in Vancouver on Wednesday evening to support efforts to stop the controversial Site C dam. The event at Creekside Community Recreation Centre is part of a tour of southern BC to raise awareness and explain the ongoing First Nations court cases to protect the Peace River Valley from being flooded by Site C.

WHAT: Co-hosted by environmental and First Nations groups, the “Keeping the Peace” tour includes stops in Victoria, Vancouver and Kamloops. This event will give Lower Mainland residents an opportunity to learn more about why Treaty 8 First Nations are opposing the Site C dam, and to support the people of the Peace River Valley as they continue to stand up for human rights, cultural survival and much-needed farmland.

The event in Vancouver is co-hosted by the Wilderness Committee, Sierra Club BC, Amnesty International Canada, the Peace Valley Environment Association and the Union of BC Indian Chiefs. Admission is by donation, and all proceeds will go towards Treaty 8 court challenges against the Site C dam.
