CFAX 1070 Radio

WITH THE MAJOR DECLINE IN SOCKEYE SALMON IN THIS PROVINCE THE WESTERN CANADA WILDERNESS COMMITTEE IS CALLING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO "CLEAN UP THE COAST."

JOE FOY THE NATIONAL CAMPAIGN DIRECTOR SAYS SOME VERY CLEAR THREATS TO SALMON CAN BE KNOCKED OFF IMMEDIATELY...

"we are literally dancing on glass right now when it comes to salmon and a move to get salmon farms off the coast should be the first immediate move in my opinion and many others."

SPEAKING ON CFAX WITH MURRAY LANGDON HE SAYS THIS IS AN INDUSTRY WE CAN NOT AFFORD IN THIS PROVINCE...

"no, out, gone, zip! people really need to get out on the internet and read what's happened in chile, listen what's happened with sea lice in norway."

HE SAYS THE SECOND THING THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE IS MOVING MORE SALMON FISHING OUT OF THE OCEAN AND CLOSER TO THE RIVERS SO THE ENDANGERED STOCKS CAN BE LEFT ALONE.
