Public Coal Concerns at Port Metro Vancouver AGM

Tuesday, June 04, 2013

On June 4, 2013 in response to mounting pressure against coal exports out of the lower mainland, members of the public were invited to speak at Port Metro Vancouver's Annual General Meeting.
The port allowed just 45 minutes of questions from the audience who were vastly opposed to the building of a coal port at Fraser Surrey Docks. The issue of exporting of coal and the resultant climate change when it is burned came up again and again.

Wilderness Committee campaigner Eoin Madden shared his concerns about the lack of public consultation and the lack of attention to climate change in Port Metro Vancouver's approval process (at 34:30).
