News Release

VANCOUVER – After a delay yesterday, the Salish Sea Tour will officially be available for media opportunities today with an open house at the Granville Island public docks. The solar-powered catamaran, Aerial Sea, will be at the docks from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. along with members of the crew, which includes Captain Simon Fawkes, Eoin Madden of the Wilderness Committee, Ben West of Tanker Free BC and local musician Luke Wallace.

The vessel will head to Richmond on Tuesday, July 7th for a similar public event at Imperial Landing in Steveston Harbour. The rest of the Salish Sea Tour will proceed as planned, with additional stops on Salt Spring Island, Pender Island and Victoria.

The goal of the Salish Sea Tour is to celebrate the beauty and ecology of the Salish Sea, discuss how communities can take action to protect our shared waters from the threat of an oil spill and share stories of how community members are already taking on the challenge of climate change locally.
