Re: When it comes to Site C, British Columbians are pragmatic, Opinion, April 15

I was surprised pollster Bruce Anderson argues the Site C Dam is supported by a “pragmatic” B.C. public. I believe the opposite to be true. The more people learn about the Site C Dam, the less they like it.

An online questionnaire put out by BC Hydro last year resulted in a flood of pragmatic comments panning the Site C Dam. In BC Hydro’s own words, “the large majority of respondents who completed the comment form responded with strong disagreement with the recommended action to advance Site C. Reasons given included lack of demonstrated need; the flooding of agricultural land, wildlife habitat and First Nations heritage sites in the Peace River Valley; lack of affordability; and lack of First Nations support.”

It’s time our government admits the mega-project is a mega-bad idea and scrap it.
