Site C dam opponents to gather Wednesday outside UBCM Convention

Tuesday, September 22, 2015

Media Advisory

VANCOUVER – Representatives of the Wilderness Committee and other concerned citizens will gather tomorrow in front of the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) convention to answer delegates’ questions about the controversial Site C dam megaproject. Site C opponents will be at the entrance to the Vancouver Convention Centre beginning at 8:00 a.m.

WHY: Several local governments, including Metro Vancouver, have called for the Site C dam to be fully reviewed by the BC Utilities Commission (BCUC). A resolution calling for a BCUC review will be put before the UBCM delegates attending the convention. Wilderness Committee representatives and other Site C opponents will be there to speak to UBCM delegates, calling attention to the lack of BCUC oversight and highlighting the strong public opposition to the project across BC.
